THE CITY OF THE FUTURE

Five days. Three cities. A shift in perspective.

Chicago. Boston. New York. Three different states – and yet part of the same movement. What remains is a changed understanding of the city.

Chicago shows just how much meaning can shift. Buildings remain standing, yet their role changes. Objects become systems; addresses give rise to hubs within the urban fabric.

Boston reveals where the future is taking shape. Close to knowledge, capital and talent. In ecosystems that accelerate exchange and enable development. Innovation becomes tangible as a result of density and connection.

New York condenses all of this into a compact space. Speed, ambition and constant change shape everyday life. Organisation, space and capital intertwine, generating a dynamic of their own.

Across all these places, a shift becomes clear:

The city is a system in motion. Spaces react, adapt and evolve. Buildings take on new roles. They connect, enable and reinforce. Work is changing in character. It is becoming more dispersed, more interconnected, and is becoming part of urban life. AI acts as an accelerator of this development – it is changing not only how we work, but also how quickly cities, organisations and their underlying logics are reorganising themselves.

The quality of a place is determined by whether it resonates and becomes part of one’s own life.

The journey has provided many answers. Above all, however, it has raised new questions – about our conception of the city, of work, and of what places will need to achieve in the future.
